Ainsoph’s New Album: Affection & Vengeance
Exploring a Turbulent Soundscape
To enter the world that Ainsoph crafts on their latest album, Affection & Vengeance, is to step into a turbulent scene. The Dutch group masterfully blends elements of black metal and swirling post-punk, creating a sound that hovers between fantasy and reality. This unique fusion conjures thoughts of missed opportunities, past regrets, and the myriad of emotions that linger just outside our immediate consciousness.
The Duality of Affection & Vengeance
Affection & Vengeance navigates through this subliminal chaos with a resolute rhythm section that anchors listeners amidst gusts of guitar riffs and ethereal vocals. The vocals, credited to an enigmatic figure known simply as “I,” play a pivotal role in establishing a disconnection between two worlds. While they could easily belong to a yearning indie rock album, their presence here adds mysterious layers to the band’s weighty and sometimes dark sound.
Two Halves, One Unified Experience
The album’s title encapsulates the contrasts present within its tracks, serving as a nod to the two distinct halves that interact with one another through varying approaches. Together, these halves form a cohesive experience that defies easy categorization. To truly grasp the essence of the album, one must listen to it in its entirety.

Band’s Insight on the Album
The band shares their thoughts on the creation of Affection & Vengeance:
“The one dream draws near,
and we have yet to bask in the everlasting radiance of the rainbow-spined god.
And yet, the gates have shut themselves before our very eyes.
Please take into arms ‘Affection and Vengeance’, a body of work for which we’re glad to have its weight lifted off our shoulders.
Originally, we envisioned this album as two separate concepts, considering a release as two EPs. However, since they are truly two sides of the same coin, we opted for a single release.
This long player transcends primal urges, delves into purgatory’s gradual transparency, and explores themes of repentance, self-worth, and the complex definitions of death and loss. It embodies the prickly thistle branches guarding the warm, comforting eye of the vortex made flesh.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
