
Travis frontman Fran Healy has spoken about his band’s long-standing friendship with Radiohead, and published the mutual appreciate between the 2 British bands.
The teams have a mutual good friend in manufacturer Nigel Godrich, who first labored with Radiohead on their 1995 album The Bends, and primary labored with Travis on their 1999 album The Guy Who, however had been presented ahead of that connection introduced them nearer.
“We’ve identified Radiohead since 1997,” Healy unearths in a brand new interview with The Irish Occasions. “We performed in just a little tiny bar, and [Radiohead’s bassist] Colin Greenwood used to be there, and afterwards he mentioned, ‘Do you need to return again to my position for a cup of tea?’ He mentioned, ‘We’ve simply completed our new report. Do you need to listen to it? And he placed on a tape, and it used to be OK Pc. We had been there going, Oh, that’s somewhat just right.”
Healy admits that he and Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke had been to begin with reasonably guarded with one any other – singers are “difficult fuckers”, he tells the newspaper – however bonded, as such a lot of musicians do, over alcohol, on an evening down the pub.
“Nigel and him had been out, and I became up,” he remembers. “Thom used to be, like, ‘What the fuck?’ We had the most efficient night time. He were given me. He were given shut sufficient to be, like, ‘Aah’. Nigel used to be, like, ‘Thom [says of Healy] ‘He’s truly cool.’ And I used to be, like, Yesssss … Thom Yorke thinks I’m cool.
