Drawing inspiration from the legend of Atlantis, “Eye of the Typhoon” tells the haunting story of a misplaced island town swallowed via a mysterious void. The monitor trips during the perilous hurricane as a boat battles towards the ferocity of the ocean, sooner or later achieving the attention of the hurricane—a misleading second of peace this is quickly shattered via the upward thrust of vengeful spirits intent on their destruction.
Musically, “Eye of the Typhoon” is a masterclass in storytelling via sound, weaving dynamic shifts and complicated preparations to reflect the struggles of the send and its workforce. The breakdown captures the chaos and depression of the hurricane, giving technique to an eerie calm within the eye prior to exploding into the climactic war of words with the spirits.
