Vocalist Insight: James Bauman on “Buzzkiller”
Vocalist James Bauman shared his thoughts on the track and the accompanying video:
“Getting older, letting go of the livin’-at-the-bar, carefree party lifestyle and adapting to adulthood can be pretty fucking difficult and sad. We used to spend so much time at the bar shown in the video, coincidently named ‘The Vid,’ short for Video Saloon and notorious for those long stairs shown in the video and mentioned in the song. Walking up those stairs usually led to one helluva night. Or, maybe the night didn’t really start until walking down them at 3 am.”
Conclusion
With “Buzzkiller,” Wenches encapsulate the essence of scum punk while reflecting on the bittersweet transition from carefree nights at the bar to the realities of adulthood. The music video not only showcases their distinctive sound but also highlights a beloved local hangout, making it a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike. Mark your calendars for July 11 to experience the full album, Stupid Sick.
